Family Night in Special Education

DATE: 03-06-2019

Dear HSD Families,

It is with great excitement and pride that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Director of Special Services for the Hartford School District.  I am honored to be a part of a school district with such a proud and rich tradition of providing high quality special education programs and services for students with disabilities.  I have worked in the field of special education for over 20 years in a variety of roles in a neighboring Vermont school district. I am excited to bring my experience, beliefs and passion for educating students of all ages and abilities to this great school district.  I look forward to working closely with the current administrators, teachers and all school staff to continue to improve our current practices, expand our options of student supports, and explore new ways of meeting all students’ academic and social/emotional needs.

I have had the great pleasure to meet many of you already this year in my role as Interim Director of Special Services.  I would welcome the opportunity to chat with you again, and meet those families who have students in special education programs here at HSD who I have not yet met.  I would love to hear your thoughts, ideas, and visions for our district and it’s special education programs and student supports. You are important stakeholders in all of our schools, and are essential members to your child’s educational team.  Please join me for a Family Night in Special Education on Monday, March 25th from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Hartford High School library for a discussion around special education. I look forward to seeing you.
